FAQ’S
Forma is a non-surgical, non-invasive radiofrequency treatment designed to tighten skin, reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and improve skin elasticity. By using radiofrequency energy, Forma stimulates the deeper layers of the skin to encourage the production of collagen and elastin, two essential proteins responsible for skin’s strength and firmness.
This innovative treatment helps to reduce sagging skin, providing a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. The Forma handpiece emits radiofrequency energy, heating the skin to promote immediate collagen contraction while stimulating long-term collagen and elastin production for sustained improvement in skin quality.
Benefits of Forma radiofrequency treatment:
- Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Tightens and firms the skin for a more youthful look
- Stimulates collagen and elastin production for long-lasting results
- No downtime, allowing you to return to your daily routine immediately
- Non-invasive and comfortable treatment with no numbing required
- Safe and effective for most skin types
At Romsey Medical Practice, Dr Rachel Tunney recommends an initial course of six Forma treatments, spaced 1-2 weeks apart, for optimal results. Following the initial course, you can maintain your results with fewer treatments spaced further apart.
Forma can be an excellent follow-up to Morpheus 8 treatments to maintain your results, or it can be combined with a Hydrafacial to enhance the effects of both treatments.

YOUR CONSULTATION AND TREATMENT
Before Your Treatment
Following your medical consultation with Dr Rachel Tunney, we will provide you with detailed pre-treatment instructions to ensure you get the best possible results from your procedure.
To prepare for your treatment, we recommend avoiding sun exposure, harsh exfoliating treatments, and potent active ingredients such as retinoids and exfoliants for 2-3 days before your appointment. This helps to minimise skin irritation and ensures that your skin is in optimal condition for the treatment.
We kindly ask that you arrive at your appointment with no makeup on your skin. Residual make-up can interfere with the treatment’s effectiveness.
The treatment typically takes 20-30 minutes, but we recommend allowing extra time for your appointment to ensure a relaxed experience. Feel free to enjoy our comfortable waiting area before or after your treatment.
During Your Treatment
The procedure begins with a thorough skin cleansing, followed by applying a clear gel to ensure the handpiece glides smoothly over your skin.
You will feel a gentle warming sensation as the handpiece moves across your skin. We closely monitor your skin’s response, adjusting energy levels as needed to ensure the treatment is effective, comfortable, and safe.
Each area is treated and the treatment is continued until the desired temperature is reached for optimal results. This ensures that each area is addressed effectively.
After the treatment, we remove any excess gel and apply a soothing moisturiser and sunscreen to protect and nourish your skin.
After Your Treatment
After your Forma radiofrequency treatment, there is no downtime, allowing you to get back to your daily activities immediately. However, it’s essential to protect your skin from the sun by using high-quality sunscreen to safeguard your newly rejuvenated skin.
It is important not to try and cool your skin down immediately after the treatment, as the heat in the skin is a crucial part of the collagen stimulation process. Allow the natural heat to remain for optimal results.
You can continue with your regular skincare routine after the treatment, as there are no restrictions on the use of skincare products. Simply maintain your usual routine for the best outcome.
At Romsey Medical Practice, you can get in touch at any point of your treatment journey if you have worries or concerns.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between Forma and Morpheus 8 treatments?
The main difference between Forma and Morpheus 8 lies in the delivery method of the radiofrequency energy. Morpheus 8 uses microneedles that penetrate the skin, delivering radiofrequency energy directly into the deeper layers. This allows for more intense treatment and quicker results, particularly in terms of skin tightening and collagen stimulation.
On the other hand, Forma uses a non-invasive approach, applying radiofrequency energy directly to the skin’s surface with no needles. This makes Forma a gentler option, suitable for those who prefer a non-invasive treatment with no downtime.
While both treatments offer skin tightening benefits, Morpheus 8 is generally more effective in achieving noticeable results faster due to its deeper penetration. Morpheus 8 may also be better if you want to address skin texture concerns like enlarged pores, superficial fine lines, and wrinkles. However, if you’re looking for a treatment with minimal downtime or need a quick, pre-event boost, Forma could be the ideal choice.
What results can I expect from Forma treatments?
Forma radiofrequency treatment provides noticeable improvements in skin texture, tightening, and overall tone by stimulating collagen production. However, it’s important to manage expectations as the results are non-surgical and more gradual than those achieved with invasive treatments. While Forma can effectively reduce mild to moderate skin laxity if you have significant sagging or excess skin, more intensive options like Morpheus 8 or even surgical procedures may be recommended. Results take time, often becoming visible after a few sessions, and maintenance is essential to sustain the effects long-term. Patience is key when it comes to seeing the full benefits of Forma!
Do I have to have a consultation before Forma treatment?
Yes, a consultation is required before undergoing Forma radiofrequency treatment. This ensures that Forma is the right treatment for your specific needs and skin concerns. During the consultation, we assess your suitability for the treatment, discuss your goals, and create a customised treatment plan to achieve the best possible results. It’s an important step to ensure your safety and maximise the effectiveness of your Forma treatment.
How many Forma treatments will I need?
We recommend an initial course of six treatments spaced 1-2 weeks apart for optimal results with Forma radiofrequency treatment. After completing this initial course, maintenance treatments should be scheduled every 3-4 months to maintain and enhance the results. While we understand that busy schedules can make it challenging to commit to regular appointments, we’ve found that spacing treatments further apart can lead to suboptimal outcomes and slower results. By following the recommended treatment plan, you can achieve the best possible results in a more efficient timeframe.
