LUMECCA
CLEAR AND BEAUTIFUL SKIN
Lumecca is an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment that uses light energy to improve the appearance of the skin. It is a safe and effective procedure that can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including:
- Age spots
- Sun damage
- Rosacea
- Spider veins
Lumecca uses light energy to target and destroy the pigment and blood vessels that cause skin problems. The light energy is absorbed by the targeted areas, which causes them to heat up and break down.
Depending on the condition we are treating, you may require between one and six treatments to achieve the best results.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Before your treatment
After your medical consultation, we will discuss some pre-appointment advice that will help ensure the best possible results for your treatment.
We must ensure that you have no tan, natural or fake, in your skin for up to 4 weeks prior to treatment.
It is best to harsh exfoliating treatments and potent active ingredients (retinoids and exfoliants) for 2-3 days before your treatment.
We prefer if you can arrive without make-up on your skin.
We may do a patch test of the IPL on your skin on the day, or, for darker skin tones 24-48 hours prior to treatment.
During your treatment
We begin by thoroughly cleansing your skin and applying a clear gel. This is to allow the IPL to conduct correctly to the skin.
You will be given a pair of blackout goggles to wear to protect your eyes from the intensely bright light.
We will perform the treatment over the targeted areas, looking for the required changes. Your comfort will be monitored throughout, but most people do not feel any pain.
After the treatment, we remove excess cleansing gel and apply a moisturiser and sunscreen to protect your skin.
It is not uncommon for the skin to look slightly more red than usual or for any pigmented areas to look temporarily darker.
After your treatment
The downtime from the Lumecca treatment is minimal.
Iver the next few days, you may see a darkening of the pigmentation and sometimes crusting as the pigment is brought to the surface.
You may see small bruises where thread veins have been treated.
These side effects are not long-lasting and should resolve within a few days.
Ensuring that you protect your skin from the sun for the coming weeks is vital to ensure you get a good outcome from the treatment.
